This type of design with the text in a curling scroll appears first in the late 1860s. It is presumed that the address refers to the 'Court House' location at the bottom of the Saltmarket, which was elsewhere identified as 184 Saltmarket.
The cdv below is probably later, on the basis of the thicker card, but the date is uncertain.
The design on the back of the cdv below is similar to one in the 'J. C. Burne' section at the same address, so that the date of this one could be just before the son left, ie, 1873 or 1874, though this card is thinner than the one above.
